I am going to have to start surviving on smoothies and sandwiches. It is already way too hot to have the oven on. At least I don't live in the Gulf (Muscat is 106 degrees this week at night).
How do you keep a young dog entertained? I freeze her bones in water so that she can lick down to them, put peanut butter in a kong or bone, put food in a plastic bottle with holes punched in it... She is through with all of those in 45 min max. leaving me with 23 hours and 15 min left to keep her occupied.
I live with a single guy and a dating couple. A not very discreet couple. Ahem. Yeah.
Watching my dog try and catch flies with her mouth is way more entertaining than I would have expected.
I took a scuba diving lesson in the Red Sea last weekend. Wow, that was fun! I definitely did spend a significant amount of the time that we were underwater being acutely aware of mortality and thinking about everything that could go wrong. But still, it was a lot of fun and I would definitely do it again.
The season of goodbye parties has begun. Expats cycle in and out of developing countries. At this point in the year, a lot of the English teachers, language learners, researchers, and fellowship holders are on their way out (and all of the summer language learners and researchers will be filtering in). We've been having a string of goodbye parties lately. One departing professor held a cookie swap/giveaway as her last hurrah and I managed to pick up some delicious molasses cookies with cream cheese frosting. I think that's all that I ate for dinner on the day of her gathering. Later this week another friend is going to have a clothing and alcohol giveaway after she finishes packing. Now that is a goodbye party that I plan to attend!

I'm trying to remember what we gave my lab when she was puppy. Definitely the peanut butter inside something trick.
I'm not sure I could live with a couple unless the walls were REALLY sound proof!
You really have a sweet blog, I love your writing style. Your personal stories have a lovely amount of details, with a great touch! I hope you are having an absolutely wonderful week.
Toodles,
