Let's Get Shopping

Here is the first set of items I have bought since arriving in Chile. Let me preface this by saying that I do NOT usually buy this much in 3 1/2 months. Really, this is not like me at all. But things are somewhat cheaper here (as long as you don't go to the super fancy stores), I celebrated a birthday 2 weeks ago so I figured I would treat myself, and I am planning on giving some things away when I return. Also, I try and buy items that will carry me through many years. At least, that's how I justify the expense to myself :).

A cardigan

A dress from a second hand vintage shop. I love that it can be dressed up or down.

Honest opinions: what do you think of this bag? I don't love it and am considering returning it. I needed a bag that fits my heels, notebooks, and laptop. This one just barely can handle all of that. I'm not sure I want to keep a bag that I don't really love and so I have not used it yet because I might return it. It was only $30. What do you think? (The white stuff is tissue paper that can be removed).

I like this little bag. It can't handle anything heavy, but I like it. I might give it to my mother for Christmas, but I might want to keep it for myself!

I really like this skirt. The black and white print looks more dramatic in person.

I love this sun dress. Only $6!

I like this top because it fits nicely and works during the day and at night.

I really like this silk dress. I was unsure about it at first, but now I think it's great. It is actually a skirt that can be wrapped around the waist like a skirt or worn as a one should dress or a halter dress. I think it looks messy as a halter so I won't wear it that way. It is also reversible, but I like the side that you see here best. (Please excuse my wet hair).

Figures

Although some of the things she did annoy me, I really do love her.

I am Elizabeth Bennet!

Storm Rolling In

Here are a few more photos from last spring that I took during a light storm.

I love these old chimneys.

I'll be back this week with photos of some clothing and other items that I've purchased down here. Side story - I had to go to the clinic today for a UTI and, well, as my grandmother says, "It was an experience." The doctor was a large older man and as soon as I saw him I thought I had jumped back in time to the 1950s and expected him to whip out a cigarette and start chain-smoking.

Also, I was told multiple times before going in that I would need an "examen." I assumed, naturally, that this translated directly to "exam." I wondered why on earth they would need to do a gyno exam for a UTI, and just about died when I saw who the doctor was. Turns out that word basically meant "analysis" of a urine sample (thankyougod) and I had no problem complying. (Except that the nurse explained how I needed to clean myself before peeing in the cup and asked if I wanted her to do it for me. Lady, I can do that myself, thankyouverymuch). Like I said, it was an experience.

Not surprised in the least

Your Inner European is French!

Smart and sophisticated.

You have the best of everything - at least, *you* think so.

Who's Your Inner European?

I really do need to get back to France....
